Chrysler 68RFE Transmission

68RFE Transmission Specs & Ratios

Chrysler's first diesel specific transmission, the 68RFE was introduced alongside the 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel midway into the 2007 model year. The transmission's band-less design and upgraded filtration system have proved to be significant improvements over previous transmission designs, permitting extended service intervals and promoting reduced service costs.

The 68RFE, which does not have PTO provisions, is specific to Ram pickups. Chassis cab trucks equipped with the 6.7L Cummins Turbodiesel were offered alternatively with an Aisin AS68RC automatic transmission, which does include PTO provisions. The six speed automatic transmission remains in use today, although the High Output Cummins platform available in Ram 3500 models come standard equipped with an Aisin AS69RC, which has a greater input torque capacity than the 68RFE. The AS69RC and AS68RC, although similar by design, are different products and should not be confused with one another.
