This is a 470 Ohm, 1 Watt resistor used to trick the PCM on a 7.3L Power Stroke into thinking that the exhaust backpressure valve is functioning properly when in fact the EBPV connector is disconnected.

The EBPV system on a 7.3L Power Stroke can be disabled by simply disconnecting the electrical connector to the EBPV solenoid. However, this sets a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) since the PCM identifies that the system is not functioning. Installing a 470 Ω resistor between the two terminals on the EBPV engine harness connector fools the PCM into thinking that the system is functioning properly and thus keeps the DTC from being set.

Resistors are extremely inexpensive, but are generally bought in packs of 5, 10, 100, etc. Only one is needed to perform this modification. As a convenience to our readers, we'll ship you a single resistor free of charge, just fill out the form below.
