2015 Diesel Guide

2015 Model Year Ford, Ram, GMC, & Chevrolet Diesel Guide

Diesel Hub's "Best in Class" summary for the 2015 model year recognizes class II and class III pickups equipped with a diesel engine. All capacities, specs, and ratings for gas equipped trucks have been omitted. Results are based on manufacturer published data. Furthermore, the term "class" is used herein based on the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) classification, which categorizes all trucks (class 1 - 8) by gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR).

2015 Ram 2500/3500 HD

2015 Ram Cummins

Ram Trucks has introduced a revised, High Output 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel for the 2015 model year, peaking at 865 lb-ft. The H.O. model is available for the Ram 3500, while the 2500 model retains the 370 horsepower, 800 lb-ft version of the Cummins. The standard engine is backed by Chrysler's 68RFE, while the H.O. transmits power via the medium duty Aisin six speed automatic. The G56 manual transmission remains optional, but comes with engine output detuned to 660 lb-ft; Ram remains the only manufacturer to offer a manual gear box. Furthermore, all of Ram's pickups now feature SAE J2807 certified tow ratings.

2015 Ford Super Duty

2015 Ford Super Duty

The workhorse of Ford's Super Duty lineup, the F-450, is revamped for the 2015 model year to deliver increased tow ratings, which have been determined under the SAE's J2807 criteria. Neither the F-250 nor F-350 use the SAE standard, but are expected to do so in the next major platform upgrade. The 6.7L Power Stroke has also been revised, increasing performance by 40 horsepower and 60 lb-ft of torque. The twin sequential turbocharger has been replaced with a more efficient, larger single turbo, which contributes to the engine's power increase. The Power Stroke comes standard with Ford's TorqShift six speed automatic transmission.
