Ford 4R100
Ford's 4R100 automatic transmission replaced the E4OD transmission for 1999 model trucks, and was mated to the 7.3L Power Stroke diesel through 2003 model trucks. When the 7.3L was phased out, so was the 4R100 transmission. In their place, the 6.0L Power Stroke and 5R110 TorqShift were introduced as replacements. The 4R100 proved to be a reliable transmission at stock performance levels. The transmission quickly becomes a weaklink in the drivetrain when owners start drastically increasing their engines torque output. Fortunately, the aftermarket provides an array of solutions for 7.3L Power Stroke owners who need to increase the torque capacity of their 4R100. Though similar in design to the E4OD transmission, the E4OD and 4R100 components are NOT interchangeable.
