SM 465 manual transmission image The SM 465 4 speed manual transmission is an industry favorite in the Offroad community. Used in a variety of GM truck applications (both gasoline & diesel), the SM 465 is rugged, heavy duty, has a granny low 1st gear, and is simple in design. Replacement and upgraded parts of the transmission are widely available due to its popularity and availability. Like all 4 speed transmissions used in diesel applications, the SM 465 was replaced in favor of a 5 speed gearbox.
